Day by day

Your itinerary

  1. Day1

    From Istanbul to Çanakkale

Your private guide and driver collect you in Istanbul for the drive through the countryside of northwestern Turkey, with breaks along the way. In Çanakkale, stroll the waterfront and learn why the Dardanelles, the narrow strait between the Aegean and the Sea of Marmara, has been fought over since antiquity.

    Overnight in Çanakkale

  2. Day2

Troy: archaeology and the world of Homer

Explore Troy, one of the most famous archaeological sites on earth and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its layers record nine cities built one on top of another over some 4,000 years, and your guide untangles which of them might be the Troy of the Iliad. Then visit the excellent Troy Museum to see the finds.

    Overnight in Çanakkale

  3. Day3

Assos: ancient philosophy on the Aegean coast

Drive south along the coast to Assos, perched on a volcanic hill above the sea. Climb to the Temple of Athena for views across to the Greek island of Lesbos, and hear how Aristotle lived and taught here for three years. Continue to the Bergama area.

    Overnight in Bergama or Ayvalık

  4. Day4

Pergamon: a centre of Hellenistic culture

Ride up to the acropolis of Pergamon, home to one of the greatest libraries of the ancient world. See the steepest theatre in the Greek world, the temples and the palaces of its kings, and learn how this small kingdom became a giant of art and learning. Then a private transfer to İzmir Airport or another agreed destination.
